Training for Assessment

Product Graphic Most companies provide off-the-job training for assessors. Using Training for Assessment can reduce the time spent off the job and the high cost of providing tutors and accommodation. If you save just a couple of hours of staff time you will recoup the cost of Training for Assessment.

Training for Assessment was developed by training providers who know what’s needed to make sure staff gain the knowledge and practical skills they need to assist their progress through the A units. As a result of using this product, training businesses have found:

  • the time taken to gain the A units can be reduced by around a third
  • the cost of managing the progress of the unqualified staff can be reduced by a third
  • the quality of the learning is improved and can be monitored and tested
  • training businesses can standardise their training approach
  • evidence of structured training can be used for Learning and Skills Council (LSC) and Adult Learning Inspectorate (ALI) reports.

Even experienced, qualified assessors will find Training for Assessment a useful resource: it provides links to web sites and exercises that can be used to ensure transition from the D units to the A units and continuing professional development.

Training for Assessment has also been used to inform and train work-based assessors. More and more workplace supervisors are involved in NVQ assessment; Training for Assessment ensures that training providers are able to ensure high-quality input in the workplace. Training for Assessment will also provide evidence of employer involvement and training for all LSCs and ALI.

You may use Training for Assessment flexibly, for example:

  • on a standalone PC or laptop
  • on an internal network
  • as an online product accessed through your own network or the Internet.
