Supporting Dyslexia

CTAD recently announced the delivery to DfES of a range of ICT products to support a new teacher training programme commissioned by the Skills for Life Strategy Unit. The materials include revised versions of distance learning tools, used with great success at the annual face-to-face teacher training day; an additional module which converts the training day into an online distance learning module; and a dyslexia snapshots CD which supports the materials through exemplification of the approaches and strategies in classroom settings.

The programme is managed by CfBt and delivered in partnership with CTAD and the Dyslexia Institute. The 'Supporting Dyslexic Learners in Different Contexts' suite is intended to enable non-specialist teachers and others who support dyslexic adult learners to gain a general awareness of dyslexia and practical advice and strategies to use in their teaching or supporting role.

CTAD's development expertise and use of technology to support the learning process ensures that they remain at the forefront of educational innovation particularly in the areas of promoting adult learning and overcoming disadvantage.
