Error message: ELLIS Intro and Middle Mastery 2.1 (CrypKey error DSS 1 - 103 running under NT4/W2K)

If you encounter this error when launching an ELLIS program, then please follow the steps outlined below.

  1. You will first need to stop the CrypKey service. At the NT Server console run "SETUPEX.EXE /D", in these locations: ELLIS\Intro\Program, ELLIS\Middle\Program etc...
  2. Next go into the Windows NT/System 32 directory and delete these files: CKLDRV.SYS, CRYPSERV.EXE and ESNECIL.IND.
  3. Now run the CrypKey installation. Run setupex.exe from each program directory (ELLIS\Intro\Program etc.).
  4. Once the above steps have been completed try opening one of your ELLIS programs.
  5. If you are now able to access the programs then you will need to reboot the NT Server. When the server is back up, please follow step 3 and run the service install once again.

The issue should now be resolved at this point.
