When I try to enter the games nothing happens

< Back to Numbers Up!

This can happen after a Macromedia Flash upgrade.

Numbers Up! was written at the time when Flash 7 was the latest player (it is this version of the program that is bundled with the CD). When Flash 8 was introduced, it incorporated additional security settings to close down risks from various sources. To stop Flash 8 from blocking access to Numbers Up! we need to configure the Flash player so that it trusts the software. To do this we need to do the following:

  • Right click on the screen where the program is blocked and select Settings then select the Advanced option.
  • In the Flash Player Help document under the Settings Manager – Table of Contents select Global Security Settings Panel.
  • The manager loaded is a 'live' manager and it is here that we need to make the configuration.
  • Select Edit Location and then Add Location.
  • In the 'Trust this location' field, enter the location of the installed files; if using the CD installation, this would be 'C:\CTAD Courses' by default. Select Confirm and then close all browsers so that the configuration changes can be applied. When you next start Numbers Up! you should now be able to go beyond the entry page.

Note, it is possible to configure the Macromedia Flash Player™ Settings Manager directly through your browser by clicking here. You can also download the document for further details.
