Tribal CTAD awarded Move On Up

Tribal CTAD has been awarded £1.6m Move On Up contract.

Following successful management of the national Move On programme, Tribal CTAD has been commissioned by the Quality Improvement Agency (QIA) to implement Move On Up. The new project is designed to support the embedding and mainstreaming of Move On and to further develop and embed the Get On at work approach in the workplace, including stimulating progression on to further qualifications.

The £4.5m national Move On project was established in July 2003 to broaden the range of Skills for Life learners taking a national certificate in adult literacy and numeracy at Level 1 and 2, to diversify the learning menu, and to promote the value of the Skills for Life national qualifications. The DfES continued to fund the Move On project until the end of July 2006, when responsibility transferred to the QIA.

The Move On project has focused largely on brushing up learners to reach Level 1 and Level 2; Move On Up will explore appropriate development and dissemination of the Move On model for Entry 3 learners.

Move On Up will also activate and support the highly successful Test the Town / Test the Company approach to promoting and recruiting learners and supporting them to achieve qualifications, building up to a country-wide campaign.

‘The Move On project has been tremendously successful and has exceeded all of its targets. This positive and practical approach to engagement for achievement has contributed to over 800,000 National Tests in adult literacy and numeracy being taken since 2003, with more than 573,000 passes. The Move On approach has become a successful feature of many Skills for Life programmes, in colleges and learning centres of many kinds, in the workplace and on the internet.’

Neil Robertson, Head of the Skills for Life Strategy Unit at the DfES
