Welcome to CTAD website!

This Leonardo-funded European project teaches and promotes English as a second language to deaf people living in Britain, Greece, the Netherlands and Sweden.

Tribal CTAD has worked alongside a number of organisations across Europe to produce innovative and accessible online training materials; an expert system that automatically assesses students’ progress; and a virtual learning environment.

The materials have been developed following pan-European research to establish the level of English competence that could be expected from students. This research shaped the instructional design and content used in the materials.

The training is aimed at deaf adults (16+) who have basic English language and computer literacy skills. It has been mapped to the National Standards for Adult ESOL core curriculum and currently contains three modules:

• Alphabet and capital letters (Entry Level 1)
• Adjectives (Entry Level 2)
• Verbs (Entry Level 3)

The training is available in four languages (Dutch, English, Greek and Swedish) and each version includes signing videos which provide support and guidance and fully explain the learning points.
