Working alongside a number of Europe’s foremost institutions, Tribal CTAD plays a key role in this European Commission-funded project looking at ways to make learning more accessible to people with disabilities. It recognises that an increasing number of students with visual, hearing, physical and cognitive impairments face barriers because they do not meet the “standard ways of doing things”.
The EU4ALL project looks at the problems they face and seeks to tackle them by developing a flexible and standards-based approach to the delivery of learning. The project will be carried out over a period of four years and involves 13 European partners.
Aims of the project:
eInclusion: ensuring equal access for all to allow users to access learning material through a customised learning environment.
User-centred services: links between a virtual learning environment and the learning organisation will be made, allowing users to gain access to an array of services.
Technology enhanced learning and e-Learning: contributing to body of knowledge relating to learning technology, how learning technology can be used and designed.
Open Architecture for ALL: the architecture will be available for other users to explore, study and implement, allowing integration of with existing virtual learning environments and learning management systems.
Software and Services: creating and extending open and interoperable platforms by exploration of methodologies, middleware, standards and tools.
Knowledge compilation and sharing: developing learning technology standards, exploring user requirements, defining user services, studying existing technologies to establish the state of the art.
