Lifetime Achievement Award

Liam Shanahan of Tribal CTAD has been awarded Tribal’s Lifetime Achievement Award. The Award announcement acknowledges that Liam ‘is an inspirational manager and mentor for young colleagues, and provides a seasoned repository of wisdom for senior managers, supporting them to deliver exceptional quality and excellent financial results within challenging deadlines’.

Liam and his friend

Liam joined the company in 1983, following a career as an industrial psychologist in Zimbabwe. For over 20 years he has provided a calm management wisdom to the cosmopolitan production and software team, stewarded the company’s commitment to Investors in People, advocated a creative, highly skilled culture, and enthusiastically engaged with the many changing technologies: from print-based to multimedia, from slow to fast connections, and from e-learning to m-learning.

Production manager Emma Mullenger summed up the feeling in team: ‘I was trying to think of the best way to put it and can’t quite get it exactly right! He’s just brilliant. He’s always so busy, but has always got time to help and have a laugh too.’  Geoff Stead, director of software, echoed this view: ‘He’s got this balance between being serious about what he does and viewing the world through this great dry sense of humour’.

Valory Hurst, who has worked with Liam for over 16 years, says the award is richly deserved. ‘I’ve known Liam for 16 years and in all that time he’s never been too busy to listen. He used to do seminars on managing time and that advice has remained with me. The way he manages to juggle the competing requests on his time still amazes me. Best of all is his humour and his golf: where would we have been without numerous tales of rain, sleet, snow and gale force winds?’
