This programme contributes to high quality, attractive numeracy and non-specialist mathematics provision for learners in the post-16 age group. Our activities involve developing expertise and quality guidance on teaching, learning and pedagogy. The programme involves using different media, including ICT, and working with Pathfinders to trial materials.
In particular this programme involves:
building on existing support materials including the core curriculum, learning materials, exemplar tests and Key Skills Support Programme (KSSP) materials to develop programmes of study and lesson plans to bring coherence and consistency to the teaching of numeracy
working across policy areas and with key delivery partners and including those responsible for Success for All
supplying support in teaching and learning approaches to Numeracy and Non-specialist Mathematics across the range of provision to encourage development of reflective practice
reviewing the role of Numeracy and Mathematics and its relationship with vocational qualifications, as well as at key stage 4
exploring the relationships between existing non-specialist mathematics qualifications such as the National Numeracy Certificates, the key skill of Application of Number and the Free Standing Maths Qualifications and identifying opportunities for transition and progression within education and training
ensuring the collection of qualitative and quantitative information and undertaking case study creation, dissemination and mainstreaming in organisational practice.
