As approved suppliers to the DfES, UfI Ltd and the National Learning Network, Tribal can ensure compliance with appropriate international standards and specifications supporting interoperability and reusability, such as:
As approved suppliers to government offices we adhere to electronic-Government Interoperability Framework (e-GIF) specifications and policies. We produce learning content that is portable across different platforms, different versions of operating systems and different Web browsers. Our materials will run with the same behaviour in all environments and have a consistent user interface.
We keep abreast of emerging technological and standards developments through active participation in major research programmes. For example, we are developers for m-learning, a major EU funded project led by the Learning and Skills Development Agency (LSDA), creating basic and Key skills materials for mobile devices. This uses a learning object approach and the material is served through a Swedish VLE (virtual learning environment). We are also part of an EQUAL project led by Portland College, which involves developing learning objects that will run in a VLE that has been optimised for use with people who have severe physical and learning disabilities and / or difficulties.
Tribal understands the tracking and management requirements of managed learning environments, and has considerable experience of developing to support these. We have done this for UfI and for our own environment, which specifically supports basic skills. We can run in a fully online mode or with tracking data stored for later upload to the main system.
