Case study: Conciliation Skills

Conciliation SkillsSupporting front-line staff in special education

A blended training programme using a powerful mix of web and paper-based material, face-to-face training and online follow-up activities. Conciliation Skills develops the skills of front-line staff in LDD who deal with parents and carers in difficult circumstances.

The programme starts with a web-based questionnaire and a small project, designed to give the trainers a good idea of where the learners are and how they currently deal with these issues. A two-day training programme follows; day one covers the programme and day two is about delivering it locally in a cascade model.

The training package has a participant's manual, a trainer's manual, and a set of slides. All the material is also available on the web site in PDF format. The website has areas for trainers and course attendees. The trainers' area includes a web board that enables them to ask the course trainers any questions and contact each other.
