Case study: m-learning

What is it?

This exciting project explores the potential of current and emerging mobile technology to reach out to young people who are dropping out of education. Tribal CTAD’s role is to develop prototype materials to attract them to learning, using:

  • mobile phones
  • palmtops
  • games consoles
  • MP3 players
  • ... and other new exciting gadgets!

The materials provide useful information and learning through these portable devices.

Who is it for?

M-learning’s target audiences are young adults who are:

  • not in education or training (including unemployed)
  • on the move for whatever reason
  • casual or temporary workers, or self-employed
  • in low-paid/low-skill employment with low literacy or numeracy skills.

Results

We’re now developing m-learning in many UK projects, for example:

  • for pregnant teenagers in Birmingham
  • for jobseekers in Coventry
  • for women starting businesses.
