Target Skills: ESOL Collection is aimed at teachers of English as a second or foreign language and learners who need support in developing English language skills. You can use it independently of the Target Skills suite and as part of a wider learning programme to complement other approaches. Learners can work through the materials at their own pace with various levels of support.

Target Skills: ESOL Collection supports learning in a wide range of adult education contexts: FE colleges, community and family programmes, training organisations, in the workplace and prisons. It is also suitable for post-14 school provision. The materials are mapped to speaking, listening, reading and writing elements at Entry Level of the Adult ESOL Core Curriculum.

Topics include:

• Letters of the alphabet
• Days of the week, months of the year
• Common signs and symbols 
• Money 
• Giving personal information 
• Listening for details 
• Following instructions 
• Words on forms
• Applying for jobs.
  

Each module has three elements:

• Find our more – learning materials that explains a new skill 
• Try it out – a chance for learners to practise what they’ve learnt 
• Check your skills – a short test that confirms learners’ learning.

The CD-ROM can be accessed in two ways:

• standalone - all CD-ROM resources can be accessed and an end-of-session record generated 
• with the management system - resources can be tailored for the individual; all work is tracked and stored on the web site.
